How to apply promo codes?

Applying a promo code in Azure DevOps is done during the extension subscription or renewal process. Follow the steps below to ensure your discount is applied correctly:

Step-by-step instructions

1. Open your Azure DevOps Organization

Log in to the Azure DevOps portal and select the organization where the extension is installed.

2. Go to Organization Settings

In the lower-left corner, click Organization Settings to access administrative options.

3. Navigate to the Billing section

Depending on your setup, you will see one of the following options:

  • Billing

  • Extensions → Manage

Both sections allow you to manage subscriptions purchased through the Azure Marketplace.

4. Find your Time in State for Azure DevOps subscription

Under the list of installed extensions, locate:

Time in State for Azure DevOps → Manage Subscription

Click Manage to open your subscription details.

5. Proceed to the purchase or renewal page

When editing your subscription (changing user tier, switching to annual billing, or renewing), Azure Marketplace will redirect you to the payment window.

6. Look for the “Promo Code” or “Discount Code” field

In the purchase dialog, you will see a dedicated field where you can enter your promotional code.
It appear as:

  • Promo Code

Note: This field is only available during checkout, not on the main subscription page.

7. Enter the promo code

Type or paste the promo code exactly as provided.
Make sure:

  • There are no extra spaces

  • The code is not expired

  • The code applies to your subscription type (monthly/annual)

8. Click Apply

Once applied, the system will instantly recalculate the price.
If the code is valid, you will see the updated discounted amount before confirming the purchase.

9. Complete the payment

After the discount is successfully applied, finalize the checkout process to activate your subscription with the promo code.

If you don’t see the promo code field

This may happen due to:

  • Regional restrictions

  • Billing type limitations (some enterprise accounts hide this field)

  • Microsoft account permissions (e.g., if you are not the billing owner)
