How Project Managers Turn Screenshots into Tasks with Capture for monday.com
In project management, it’s not enough to describe a bug or feature request with plain text. Developers and designers often need visual feedback for teams to clearly understand what needs to be built, and that’s why turning Screenshots into Tasks makes the process faster and more effective.
This is where Capture for monday.com shines. It’s more than a screenshot tool with markup – it acts like a mini it projects manager software, helping PMs quickly convert context into actionable tasks.
Let’s walk through an example where a Project Manager needs to add a Customer Testimonial block on a landing page.
Before You Start
Enable the Capture extension in the top-right corner of your browser.
If it’s not installed yet, check the step-by-step guide:
👉 How to install Capture for monday.com
⚠ To use Capture, you must have:
A monday.com account with the Capture for monday.com app installed.
Capture in Chrome for monday.com and Jira from the Chrome Web Store.
Step-by-Step Process
1. Enable Capture
Click the Capture extension in the top-right corner of your Chrome browser. The side panel will open directly in your monday.com environment.
2. Choose or Create a Template
Click the Template dropdown.
You can either:
Select an existing template (e.g., UI/UX feedback, Content update, Bug report).
Or click Create template to set your own.
👉 When creating a template, you define:
The template name (e.g., Landing Page Block).
Which columns/fields should be filled each time (for example, Status, Assignee, Date, Priority, Stage).
Default values for those fields.
This saves time and keeps tasks consistent across projects.
3. Select Workspace, Board, and Group
In the Capture side panel, select:
Workspace (e.g., Projects).
Board (e.g., Company Website – Capture Landing Page).
Group (e.g., Sprint 18.08.2025–22.08.2025).
This ensures the new item will appear in the right sprint or project backlog.

4. Define the Task Title (Item Name)
Enter a clear title in the Item name field:
“Add customer testimonial slider with 3 reviews”
Add a Detailed Description
In the Update field, describe exactly what should be done. Example:
A new customer testimonial slider with 3 reviews should be added immediately after the Features block on the Capture Landing Page.
Block requirements:
Each slide: customer photo (optional), name, role, short review.
Navigation: arrows + dots, responsive on mobile.
Styling aligned with design system.

5. Take a Screenshot with Markup
Click the Screenshot button in the Capture toolbar.
Select the area of the page where the new block should be placed.
Use markup tools to:
Draw a rectangle around the location.
Add arrows pointing to the section.
Write a text note.
This visual proof is clearer than paragraphs of text.

6. Copy and Insert Page Fragment
Use Copy fragment to capture a specific text or section of the page and paste it directly into the task description. This adds extra context for the dev team.
You can also take and add screenshot directly from the page.

This ensures the task includes both a screenshot and the exact faulty content.
7. Fill Task Fields Before Creating

Based on your template and board setup, you can also fill in:
Status (e.g., To Do).
Assignee (designer or developer).
Date (deadline for delivery).
Priority (e.g., High).
Stage (e.g., Design or Development).
Since Capture pulls both preset fields and board-specific fields, this makes the task maximally informative.

8. Convert into a Task
Click Create.
Capture will generate a fully structured monday.com item.
A green confirmation message appears: “Item has been successfully created.”
9. Review the Task in monday.com

Click View item to check that:
The annotated screenshot is attached.
The description is complete.
Status, Assignee, Date, and Priority fields are filled.

Benefits for the Team
Designers know where and how the block should appear.
Developers see the structure and technical requirements.
PMs track fields like Status, Priority, and Stage without extra effort.
Teams benefit from a true collaboration tool that eliminates ambiguity.
Capture acts as both bug tracking software and a visual feedback for teams tool, giving Project Managers a streamlined way to Turn Bugs into Tasks and feature requests into actionable work.
